Exhibition: The Downtown Gallery (New York) "Ernest Fiene New Lithographs" (1928) Setting: The Maine coast is a strong possibility, especially Monhegan Island, which became the setting for numerous later Fiene works (See Fisherman's Cove, Maine.). Paintings from as early as 1921 are set there. Another possibility is the Murray Bay section of French Canada to which Fiene traveled in 1927 and which he used as the setting for other lithographs published in 1928 (See Canadian Village and French Canada.). |
