Notes
*Title and impressions outside the edition: Impressions inside and outside the edition bear the variant titles "Farm" and "American Farm." 3/50 (private collection) and 9/50 UMUD are inscribed "American Farm." 33/50 (NYPL) and (34/50) (private collection) are inscribed "Farm." It may be that impressions with lower numbers are titled "American Farm" while ones with higher numbers have just "Farm."
An impression outside the edition bears the title "American Farm" (l.l.), and is inscribed: "To George C. Miller [Fiene's printer] with compliments." Another, the SFFAM impression, is titled "Farm," but not numbered. Paper: At least two impressions (3/50 and 33/50 {NYPL}) are on japan paper. Commentary: "Two prints, 'Farm' and 'Entrance to the Village', both from 1927, best reveal Fiene's interest in the subtle, yet jarring meeting of two eras" (Zimmer). |
